Motivation & Building Stage 1 Prototype


Motivation

I always wanted to develop a tower defense game.

When playing tower defense, I realize, at least for me, a lot of the joy comes from the sense of accumulation; building up my undefeatable force, obtaining experience points and getting even stronger.

This sense of accumulation is something that could be also found in every day life. For example, we eat, sleep, work and so on so that we could survive. We constantly take actions to defend our lives.

Since presenting consequences of a series of actions is a realm of adventure games, I think it would be interesting to combine a tower defense phase with a point & click adventure phase, and that is what this project is going to be.

Development of Stage 1 Prototype

Still under development.

Currently all you can do is place red hands and see them smack the white moths.

Before building a refined game system, I’m having fun making assets and playing around with animations and effects.

Stage 1 turned out to be pretty psychedelic. I think I’m inspired a lot by Yume Nikki.
